Résumé

In the Gulf of La Spezia (Italy, NW Mediterranean) we observed mortality of two common zooxanthellate species indigenous to the Mediterranean: Balanophyllia europaea and Cladocora caespitosa (Zibrowius 1980). The former is a solitary species; the latter is colonial and may form sizeable colonies.
